UFood, the Newton-based eatery serving better-for-you alternativexs to traditional fast-food fare, decidedc to close its three restaurants in Chicago last week after watchinbg revenue drop steeply in the pastseveral months. Naddaffc would not say how far sales fell in thetime period, but said the decliness began in the fall. The decisio was mutual between UFood and thefranchise operator, said Naddaff, who blamee what he called “crippling conditions.” UFood opened the threwe restaurants between July 2008 and Januaryg 2009. “When you have those economic conditions, a new franchise e cannot sustainthe losses,” he said.
“Noqw we’re going to come because I don’t think Chicago is any different than any othermetropolitan area.”
