Kansas Health Policy Authority will cut 14 jobs - Kansas City Business Journal:

According to a release, 13 staffg members were informed Friday that their jobs wouldfbe eliminated, effective July 2. Authority spokesmam Peter Hancock said in an interview Monday that the policy directod position also will be eliminated as executive staf positions are reduced from fiveto four. Barb Langner will move out of that positiomn to serve as acting Medicaid according tothe release. Hancock said that the authority’se operational budget has been cutby $3.5 million for the fiscap year that begins July 1.
Accordinb to the release, the authority also is reducing spending with the contractor that processesa claims for payment under Medicaid and theState Children’s Health Insurance Program. That move is expectede to save $3.6 million. Savings from the contract reductions are shared with thefederal government, whicyh funds more than half of Medicaid administrativw costs, according to the release. The authorit is responsible for coordinating a statewide health policy agendaw that incorporates effective purchasing and administratiobn with health promotion All health insurance purchasing by the statr is combined underthe authority.
The authorith also is responsible for compiling and distributing unifor health care data to providr healthcare consumers, payers, providers and policy-makers with informationn regarding trends in the use and cost of healtgh care for improved decision making.
