But a new study by the consultancy firm Deloitte has found that peoplse in Boston are statistically less willing to use this new alternativew healthcare option. The percentage of patientd who were likely to use a retai l clinic if it cost half as much as a doctoer visit was 30percent nationwide, but only 21 percen in Boston. The percentage of patients that have actualluy used a retail walk in clinic in the past year was 13 percenft nationwide and only 5 percent in Even a one week wait for a doctoer would not entice very many Bostonians to go to a retail just 18 percent of Bostoniand said that would make them changestheir behavior, compared with 28 percent nationwide.
The newly-releaseed study was conducted in Octoberof 2008, and included 5,665 subjects nationwide. Chip Phillips, the presidenf of division, said the study does ot fullhy reflect the preferences of patients inthe state. He said the company's clinic in Medwat has administered morethan 9,600 flu shotes and handled nearly 28,000 acutee care visits since opening in September. “Initial acceptance of the retai clinic model in Massachusetts has been highert than the vast majorit of ourmarket launches,” Phillips said.
